Moves for J Boat

US Watercraft of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, is to become the U.S. builder of the popular J/105. Already building the J/22 and J/24 – yes, you can still buy a new J/24 – the RI company is well positioned to take on the bigger boat, which is one of the most popular offshore one-design classes worldwide. Until now the boats have been built by Pearson Composites of Warren, RI, which will continue to build other models.

Also building J boats is J Europe, based in western France. Its most successful models are the J/80 – of which 1,000 have been built – and the J/109. The plant built 220 boats last year, grossing 13.9 million Euros.
