Volvo Ocean Race page presents VOR TV
By David Schmidt

If you’re as interested in high-end offshore raceboats as I am, this one is sure to earn a bookmark on your Internet browser. Meet www.VolvoOceanRace.tv, a site that allows viewers to gain some historical perspective (dating as far back as the 1973-1974 Whitbred race) on the event's origins and evolution into the still-newly minted VO70 class. Viewers can watch as the boats grew leaner, the sail plans more aggressive, life aboard became even more Spartan, but the thrills…well, if you’ve ever been aboard a V70, you know what we mean; if you haven’t, believe it when you hear that they are true rocketships. VolvoOceanRace.tv is the next best thing to getting aboard, with amazing footage that documents the true pressures of a VOR campaign, both on the water and off. Best yet, during the 2008/2009 edition of the VOR, the site will feature wide-screen footage of the in-port racing, as well as gritty, real-life coverage of the offshore passages.
